Terms of service

compat is in a beta, design partner phase. These terms are short on purpose. Read them; they describe the deal honestly.

Last updated 15 September 2026

The service

compat connects to repositories you choose, performs the SDK or API migration you describe inside a disposable sandbox, runs your own checks, and opens a pull request. It does not merge. You decide what lands in your codebase.

Beta status

The service is in beta. Features, supported providers and pricing may change, and the service may be unavailable at times. We will tell design partners about material changes before they take effect.

AI-generated changes need human review

Every change compat proposes is produced by an AI model working from your description, your code and public documentation. The verification table in each pull request shows which checks ran and which did not. Checks that did not run are not verified. You are responsible for reviewing and testing a pull request before merging it, including the manual steps compat lists.

No warranty on migrations

The service is provided as is. We do not warrant that a migration is complete, correct or suitable for your production environment, or that a pull request will pass checks compat could not run. To the extent permitted by law, compat is not liable for losses arising from merged changes.

Your responsibilities

  • Connect only repositories you have the right to modify.
  • Keep secrets out of the repository content compat processes.
  • Do not use the service to violate a third party's terms, including those of the providers being migrated.

Payment and cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period and no further charges are made. Design partner pricing is fixed for the agreed period.

Data

How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy and the security page. Both form part of these terms.

Termination

You can stop using compat at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App and asking us to delete your organization. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or breach these terms, and will say why.
